Some Assembly Required

The Penn State Indoor Drumline is encouraging people to fear the phrase "Some Assembly Required" no longer. Any parent that has stayed up until four o’clock in the morning Christmas day putting together a child’s toy can tell that those words should not be taken lightly. But do not fret; Penn State has simplified their 2010 presentation into easy steps that even a frustrated, sleep deprived parent can appreciate.

Step 1: Locate All of the Components
In this first movement, we explore the nuts and bolts within a piece of machinery - assemble, as in pieces coming together. The simplistic, interweaving musical voices in Eric Whitacre’s Equus are masterfully arranged by James Ancona and Brian Tinkle bringing out a truly fragmented and jarring experience. The manner in which this piece opens the show is sure to make audiences intrigued and begging for more.

Step 2. Assemble
The second movement depicts what you get when all the small pieces come together to make a section of an actual assembly line. The ensemble is sure to please the “Lot” fans in this movement. Bombastic grooves, hot beats, and a ton of body movement will leave audiences on the edge of their seats.

Step 3. Enjoy our Product
To finish it all off, we show the more sensitive side to the word assembly. Assemble as in a group of people coming together for the common good. Musically we take you back to the classics; Hindemith’s Symphonic Metamorphosis. This powerful conclusion really brings the humanity back to our program and is ensured to leave you inspired.

There you have it; 3 easy steps to an unforgettable drumline experience. So sit back, relax, and enjoy as the Penn State Indoor Drumline builds their show from the ground up right before your eyes. Penn State Indoor Drumline would like to thank the following sponsors for their continued support; Remo, Zildjian, Innovative Percussion, UPAC and the Penn State Blue Band. We are also proud to welcome Dynasty drums onto the team for the 2010 season.
